Around two years ago at Winter Slipstream all the Ambassadors sat down and wrote out what event we could host that seemed right up Connected in Motion’s alley. We all wrote down our ideas and shared with the group. Stephanie Brodie (mastermind of Trampoline Dodgeball) came up with the idea to do a tournament. This instantly sounded like an insane amount of fun to me, so I asked her if I could help out!
This year, on October 26th we had approximately 55 people come out to play at Sky Zone‘s facility in Toronto, both 5.5er and T-1 alike. After getting stuck on the way up, I was a little bit behind, but things got under-way smoothly and quickly!
The excitement was at an all-time high. People were dressed up as Superheros, kitties, rainbow coloured, and there was a team called tight and bright- their outfits, you guessed it, were tight and bright! People were shouting words of encouragement to dip, duck, dive, and dodge! We were testing, treating lows with the juice and granola bars provided, and catching our breath on the platform while teams battled it out. For me it seemed, as always at CIM events, that diabetes was easier to handle, that everyone there knew why you needed a moment off the trampolines to chug a juice box or cram a granola bar. When pump alarms went off I found myself looking to other folks rather than checking my own straight away, then you’d get the old “It’s not me!” that would chorus out from surrounding T1’s.
Stephanie and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out. We had an absolute blast organizing and playing with you folks! The day would have been impossible without all of your enthusiasm!
