Slipstream in the City 2012: No, really, thank YOU!

It’s hard to believe that it was only a little over a week ago that we held our second annual fundraiser event, Slipstream in the City 2012. This year’s event was held at the Steam Whistle Brewing building, in the heart of downtown Toronto. The event and venue was filled with great music, awesome food and drink, and amazing people. We were genuinely overwhelmed with the enthusiasm, encouragement, and support shown for Connected in Motion.

Thanks to our sponsors*, 100% of the money raised from ticket sales, silent auction items, draws, and donations went directly to Connected in Motion… and how much did that all amount to??? Drumroll, please!

The amount raised at Slipstream in the City 2012 totalled:

$14, 214

What does that mean practically? Those funds will go a long way to helping us: host an Eastern Slipstream, expand our Western Canada programming, expand our social media platforms, formalize our 5.5er programming, and support CIM Ambassadors.

So often, at the end of an event, we will thank people for coming out and they will insist that the only thanks due is for the programming we do… But this time, seriously, thank YOU! Your support means we can continue to build and expand a community for people living with type 1 diabetes. Stay tuned tomorrow for a post about our first annual Inspiration Award winner, who was named during the Slipstream in the City festivities! If you were not able support us through the Slipstream in the City event, but would still like to make a donation, please click here.
