WHAT: Annual Canoe Trip
WHERE: Algonquin Park, Ontario
WHEN: July 14-17, 2016
WHO: Adults (18+) with Type 1 diabetes
Whether it’s your first or one hundredth trip, we want to paddle with you.
Take part in our 7th Annual Canoe Trip in beautiful Algonquin Park. This will be a chance to share your experiences with other Adults with Type 1 diabetes, while exploring the lakes and woods of Ontario’s near north. While immersing ourselves in outdoor activity, we’ll be swapping tips and tricks for living a healthy life with Type 1.
As always, the Annual Canoe Trip will cater to a wide range of skill levels and experience, but will be very limited in space. We will be accepting 14 participants with Type 1 Diabetes. (If you would like to canoe with a non-T1 please check out our 5.5er/T3 friendly trip here.) Need some canoeing tips? No problem! Basic skill instruction opportunities can be provided on the Thursday pre-trip – Let us know if you are interested!
Where will we be paddling?
We will spending our first night (Thursday July 14) at the Rain Lake jump off site. We can leave our cars there for the weekend. We will start our trip on Rain Lake, and spend Friday and Saturday paddling and camping. Sunday we will paddle back to our departure point and our waiting vehicles.

CIM has lots of equipment and gear that we can loan to participants. Whether you’re in need of a sleeping pad or sleeping blanket, flashlight or water bottle – We can help you out. I have a special dietary need – celiac, dairy sensitivity, allergy – Can the canoe trip accommodate me?
We work hard to to ensure that we can meet the dietary needs of all of our canoe trippers. Food is one of the highlights of a canoe trip experience! We’ll work closely with you to make sure that you’re comfortable with the food situation. We don’t want food to be a stress!
Will there be low supplies on the trip, or do I need to pack my own?
Low supplies will be plentiful! We’ll supply dextrose tabs, granola bars, etc. As always, if you have your own favourites, please bring them along! (Maybe they will become our favourites, too!)
