How to get there…

Estimated Driving Time from Vancouver: 30 minutes

The Grouse Grind Trail starts from the parking lot at the base of Grouse Mountain.

From Downtown

Drive westbound along Georgia Street and continue along the Stanley Park Causeway and across the Lions Gate Bridge. Right after crossing the bridge, take the right-hand turnoff to North Vancouver and immediately change lanes into one of the furthest left two lanes. At the first set of lights, the left two lanes turn onto Capilano Road. Follow Capilano Road as it continues northbound, passing the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Capilano Dam, until it ends up in the Grouse Mountain parking lot.

From Highway #1

Take the Trans Canada Highway (Highway #1) westbound across the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge (Second Narrows Bridge) to North Vancouver and take the Capilano Road Exit. Turn right onto Capilano Road and head northbound until it ends up in the Grouse Mountain parking lot.

  • Hi Chloe and all,

Great idea! Just thought I’d mention, re. transportation, that there’s a bus directly to Grouse Mountain. It leaves from the Lonsdale Quay bus loop (you can get to Lonsdale Quay via the Seabus, from Waterfront Station).

Also, at the top of the Grind, there are several lunching possibilities … pub, restaurant, picnic … for anyone who wants to eat up there.

    Cheers,
    Heather

Hi Chloe — I hope you have a lot of fun on the Grouse Grind. How times change, when I grew up in North Vancouver — many years ago, people were not allowed to go up under the gondola as it was part of the water shed.
When you drive up Capilano Road, just after you go through a rock cut.the second stop light you will get to is at Ridgewood Drive. When you look to the right as you cross Ridgewood, you will see the opening of two small roads entering Ridgewood on the left side of the road. This is where I lived until I was eight years old. The townhouses on the right side of Capilano Road, just north of Ridgewood used to belong to one of my best friends family and it was all woods where we played for hours every day.

Just thought I would give you a little personal insight into where you are going to be in 13 days. Hope you have a great time on the trips you have planned.

    Cheers,
    Chris Banks
