Mud Runnin’ 2010

As we rolled out of bed Sunday morning, things weren’t looking good for a day at the beach.  It was chilly and the rain seemed to be relentless.  For a bunch of fearless CIMers though, it was a perfect day for a mud run.

Bundled in fleeces and raincoats and decked out in neon t-shirts, we took the shuttle to the registration tables just in time for the rain to let up and get a few clean pictures before the race began.

With blood sugars in check, pumps tucked away, and glucose tabs stashed in all sorts of places, the team was ready to go!

After crossing multiple rivers and climbing up muddy slopes, the team started to emerge from the forest and turn the last corner to what everyone had been waiting for: the mud pit!

We were definitely the brightest, muddiest crew at the race, and attracted quite a bit of attention from the announcer.

Some runners were veterans, while some were attempting their first 5k – but regardless, everyone did a fantastic job!  After showering off and putting on clean clothes, the team sat down to a huge picnic lunch for refuelling after a fabulous run!
