Pacific Northwest Slipstream (USA)

October 25, 2013 @ 5:00 pm - October 27, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

| $400

CIM is excited to be partnering with Riding on Insulin to host our first ever Slipstream Event in the United States! What does that mean? As a Canadian Registered charity, venturing south of the border is a daunting task! We will be partnering with Riding on Insulin to bring the same amazing CIM programming to the US as we have here in Canada, just without the headaches of the admin processes. ROI will be handling all registration. CIM will be focused on programming and facilitation.

A Slipstream Weekend is an active, social and educational weekend for adults (18+) living with Type 1 diabetes. But that explanation sounds so formal…

What it really is… is a weekend jam packed full of outdoor adventure, engaging workshops, great food and incredible people. It’s a chance to connect (or re-connect) with like-minded Type 1′s, get out and try something new, learn from each others’ experiences and celebrate the year’s accomplishments – focusing on the positive aspects of what we CAN do with Type 1 diabetes.

Situated on beautiful Orca Island, the ‘emerald isle’ of the San Juan Islands and just a short ferry ride from the Washington coast, we are excited to make Camp Orkila home to Connected in Motion’s PNW Slipstream, presented by Riding on Insulin. We will spend our days taking a step outside of our comfort zones and towards new adventures as we sea kayak, climb, hike and exploring the over 280 acres of beach and forest that Orkila has to offer. We’ll have the chance to connect with one another, share our stories, and pick up a tip or two for living our lives to the fullest with Type 1. Our weekend schedule will make the most of this outdoor adventure playground as well as providing some time downtime for you to relax and soak it all in.

  • Shared Bunk Accommodation
  • All meals and snacks (Friday evening snack through Sunday Lunch)
  • Outdoor Programming (eg. Rock Climbing, Challenge Course, Hiking, etc)
  • CIM-specific programming
  • A life-changing, one-of-a-kind experience in GREAT company!
  • Note: Weekend schedule, packing list and more information on transportation options will be available in September 2013

  • Transportation to and from the site (Although we will help coordinate carpooling!)
  • Bedding (BYO sleeping bag, pillow and towel)
  • Diabetes Supplies
