Ive been helping manage Connected in Motions social media profiles for the past little while. As we make our way to the month of November, and the organization heads into its major fundraising event Slipstream in the City, I have been thinking a lot about peoples diabetes stories I have heard over the years Ive been involved with Connected in Motion.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of joining 14 other people with type 1 diabetes on the third Annual CIM Canoe Trip. This year we ventured into the backcountry of Algonquin to experience the warmth of the forest, the cool calm waters of Tom Thomson Lake, the quiet serenity of a night paddle across Burnt Island… and the gut wrenching screams of the pterodactyl-like ravens that came out at the break of dawn.
This past weekend, Connected in Motion experienced another first – The very first event dedicated to our community of 5.5ers (friends, family members, loved ones of anyone with T1!) The three-day backcountry canoe trip, which took place in Algonquin Park, Ontario, invited 5.5ers out to meet other 5.5ers. We even invite them to bring their Type 1s along!
