Some exciting news from the team at Medtronic Canada, who have secured Health Canada licensing for the Medtronic Guardian™ 4 Sensor. This new sensor will integrate with the MiniMed™ 780G insulin pump system†, and, most notably, removes the need for fingersticks/calibrations! Something the Medtronic community has been excitedly awaiting since the launch fo the company’s AutoMode product line.

Things You Need to Know:

The Medtronic Guardian™ 4 Sensor is designed to work with the MiniMed™ 780G system. This hybrid closed loop system is capable of auto-adjusting and correcting sugar levels every five minutes*, facilitated by the proprietary SmartGuard™ technology, which also includes meal detection technology and auto correction insulin boluses.

The integration of the Medtronic Guardian™ 4 Sensor with the 780G aims to further reduce the daily burden of diabetes management. It eliminates the need for fingersticks when used in conjunction with SmartGuard technology**.

The Medtronic Guardian™ 4 Sensor is expected to be commercially available by the end of 2023. Meanwhile, users of the MiniMed™ 770G system are being invited to upgrade to the MiniMed™ 780G system via a remote software update.
