One thing you need to know about Ypsomed and the launch of YpsoPump in Canada is that they have a vision of T1D tech interoperability. Ypsomed received approval from Health Canada to begin sales of the YpsoPump in 2019 and became the latest insulin pump company to hit the market in Canada. At Virtual Slipstream, you’ll have the chance to learn more about Ypsomed Canada and what they’re doing in the Type 1 diabetes space.

Read on to learn what we expect you’ll walk away with from the sessions they are hosting.

Disclaimer: Please check out CIM’s Partners Page to learn more about the companies we work with. This post was delivered as part of an annual sponsorship package with our partner, but our partners do not review the content before publication and we strive to bring accurate and helpful information to the T1D online community. We still thought this info was important for you to know about.

Connected in Motion firmly believes that there is no one way of managing diabetes that works for everyone. Some folks love their carbs and feel stellar. Others avoid carbs like the plague and have found success. Some people have a plethora of basal rates guiding them through the day, others love their one-and-done long-acting insulin shots. And so it’s no wonder that when it comes to diabetes technology, that interoperability – the ability for diabetes devices to talk to other diabetes devices, regardless of the brand (think pump talking to CGM), is going to become increasingly important.

There are two Ypsomed Diabetescare sessions that we wanted to tell you more about. For some of you, this may be the first time you’ve heard of YpsoPump (and, er, sorry American friends – YpsoPump isn’t yet available south of the border). We encourage you to check out the sessions and find an opportunity to learn more so you can be sure you’re making the right choice for yourself and your diabetes management.

Since YpsoPump is the most recent insulin pump company to launch products in Canada, there’s likely to be a lot of learning to be had for much of our community. It may be worth taking a peak at CIM’s recent blog post about the YpsoPump. These are a few of the things that we expect you’ll have the chance to learn during Ypsomed’s Virtual Slipstream sessions:

The Ypsomed Story

You’ll have the chance to learn about where Ypsomed came from and why they decided to bring a new insulin pump to the market. The company has been working in the diabetes space for longer than you may think!

Community Connections

The YpsoPump was built largely based on feedback received from the diabetes community. Their roadmap is exciting, built on a framework of open-source data that sees potential for interoperability with CGM and  phone app bolusing.  They announced their partnership with Dexcom, late  2020.

Unique Pump Features

There are a few incredibly unique features to the YpsoPump (and some that you may be familiar with if you’re an insulin pump OG and have experience with the old Disetronic pump!) The YpsoPump uses glass syringes which means they can be pre-filled and left in the fridge for easy access. It is able to withstand water immersion to a depth of 1 m for up to 60 minutes, is one of the smallest insulin pumps available in Canada, and uses a AAA battery.   Also offers the flexibility of App based technology.  Comprehensive data at your fingertips, therapy management on the go.  These are just a few of the features you’ll have the chance to check out and ask questions about.

Virtual Slipstream is Connected in Motion’s peer-led community event happening April 22-25, 2021.
