A weekend of camping and exploring the trails

A Support Crew Adventure

Connecting adults with Type 1 diabetes and our Support Crew in the backcountry

Join us for an adventure with community, connection and continuing Type 1 diabetes education.

CIM Adventures help to connect people with Type 1 diabetes in the backcountry. The trips give you the chance to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of your every day life; learn skills for taking diabetes into the wild; and step outside of your comfort zone into the place where magic happens. These programs are for veterans and new adventurers alike.

Experiential diabetes education

The outdoors is our classroom. The best way to learn is in the real world.

Connect with the Type 1 Community

A weekend developed specifically for adults with T1D and their Support Crew in mind.

Logistics

Whether it’s your first or hundredth trip, we want to adventure with you.

Join us for a weekend of day-hikes and camping in beautiful Bruce Peninsula National Park! We will base-camp at the Cyprus Lake Campground and take day-trips out to explore the blue waters of Georgian Bay.  Learn more about CIM’s programs here.

This trip will cater to a wide range of skill levels and experience and will be limited in space. We will be accepting 10 participants with Type 1 Diabetes as well as Support Crew (those people (18+) in our lives who help make Type 1 diabetes a little bit easier, but who DON’T have Type 1).

Bruce Peninsula National Park

Overview

Bruce Peninsula National Park, nestled on the scenic shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario, is a sanctuary of natural wonder. It boasts a stunning array of landscapes, from rugged cliffs and crystal-clear waters to dense forests and open meadows. Visitors can explore the famous Bruce Trail, Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath, which offers routes ranging from leisurely strolls to challenging hikes. Along these paths, you’re likely to encounter diverse flora and fauna, dramatic rock formations, and the iconic Grotto, a breathtaking shoreline cave with azure waters. Bruce Peninsula National Park is a perfect retreat for those seeking to connect with nature and experience the wild beauty of Ontario’s unique ecosystems.

There are plenty of opportunities to get active and have fun regardless of what Mother Nature throws at us. We always plan for the weather to be unpredictable–hot, cold, wet, or dry. We can’t control the weather, but we can control how we dress. Bring lots of comfy layers, as well as athletic, fast-drying, and wicking clothing.

Getting There? Accommodations? Food? Packing List?

Oops, you’ve scrolled too far! All of that information is answered further up the page.

I'm not super fit. I don't know if I'll be able to handle this event.

Of course you will! The CIM team are trained educators and adventure guides. We work hard to make sure that everyone experiences success, defined on your own terms. Whether that’s climbing a mountain, or just strolling to the trailhead, we’ll mould the experience to suit all ability levels. We’ll encourage you to step to the edge of your comfort zone, but we won’t push you off!

I have a special dietary need: celiac, dairy sensitivity, allergy, etc. Can the venue accommodate me?

We do our best to accommodate special dietary requests, and our team works closely with the venue to ensure they are aware of any food allergies or special diets in the group. If you have a special dietary concern, please be sure to let us know during the registration process so we can find out what accommodations or substitutions the venue is able to offer.

Will there be low supplies on site, or do I need to pack my own?

Low supplies will be plentiful, but it’s always a good idea to bring your own! We’ll supply juice boxes, glucose tabs, granola bars, etc. As always, if you have your own favourites, please bring them along! (Maybe they will become our favourites, too!)

  • All meals and snacks (Friday evening dinner through Sunday Lunch)
  • Group Equipment (Tents, Cooking Equipment, Canoes, etc)
  • Certified Tripping Guides

What is NOT included?

What is the refund policy?

We offer full refunds for CIM program registrations until 30 days before the start of each program. For cancellations more than 30 days before the program, a refund (minus an administration fee of $25) will be issued. To request a cancellation, please email info@connectedinmotion.ca.
