Join us for a chance to learn about the MiniMed 770G, now shipping in Canada! Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing with you a bit more about some of the sessions we’re especially excited about taking in at Virtual Slipstream 2021. Below, check out what we expect to walk away with from these sessions.

Disclaimer: Please check out CIM’s Partners Page to learn more about the companies we work with. This post was delivered as part of an annual sponsorship package with our partner, but our partners do not review the content before publication and we strive to bring accurate and helpful information to the T1D online community. We still thought this info was important for you to know about.

The MiniMed™ 770G system was approved by Health Canada on December 4, 2020. This is the latest in the line of self-adjusting pump systems from Medtronic, after the approval and launch of the MiniMed™ 670G in the Fall of 2018

We’re excited to have the team at Medtronic Canada on board supporting Virtual Slipstream. Medtronic has been one of CIM’s longest sponsors – in fact, they were our very first sponsor. We’ve always been grateful for their contributions to diabetes tech. If you’re interested in learning about the latest in Medtronic’s hybrid closed-loop system family, be sure to sign up for one of their sessions. You’ll have TWO chances to get to know more:

Rob Howe has been living with Type-1 Diabetes for 15 years. He is an Entrepreneur, Marketing Strategist, Podcaster and former professional basketball player. In 2015, Rob founded Diabetics Doing Things, in an effort to raise awareness around the amazing things that Type-1 Diabetics are doing around the world. As of 2021, Rob’s podcast has been downloaded over 1.5 million times, from listeners in over 70 countries. Rob lives in Dallas Texas with his wife Erica and their fur babies, Michael J. Also joining us will be Kayla O’Connell. Kayla has been involved with Connected in Motion since the day she got diabetes when she met CIM’s founder Chloe Vance (literally!) She is currently wearing the MiniMed 670G and using AutoMode (but will be using the MiniMed 770G by the time of Virtual Slipstream!)

Finally, we’ll have the chance to meet fellow T1D Andrew Bierworth. Andrew is currently is wearing the MiniMed™ 770G system and using auto mode. Andrew lives in Northern BC, he loves the outdoors and has been active in the diabetes community in a number of roles across the country with D-camps since 2006!

Below are some of the things that we’ll expect to learn from the sessions:

More about the latest pump features.

It’s one thing to be able to read about them, another to get the chance to see them in action with an expert at your fingertips. We’ll have the chance to learn about the pump’s new Bluetooth feature and how this enables you to integrate your phone with your insulin pump and CGM. We expect that the Bluetooth capability will be a gateway to future technologies.

A brand new Smartphone integration.

We’ll have the chance to check out the first commercially available smartphone connected insulin pump system. Available on both Android and iOS devices, the app has features including displayed active insulin, current BG, trend arrows and more.

First hand experiences.

You’ll get the chance to learn from a peer with Type 1 diabetes who has been using the 770g what it’s actually like! We know that these experiences are invaluable to the Type 1 community and we’re excited to be able to offer them to all of you. Don’t forget to submit your Qs you may have to be answered during the Medtronic Product Showcase, here
